Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about QR Code Generator USA

Do QR codes expire?

No. The QR codes generated by our tool are static QR codes — meaning all the data is encoded directly in the QR code pattern itself, not on a server. Static QR codes never expire and will work forever, as long as the URL or information they point to remains valid.

Do I need an account to generate QR codes?

No account is required to generate basic QR codes and download them as PNG. However, creating a free account unlocks additional features like custom colors, logo embedding, SVG/PDF exports, and the ability to save your QR code history.

What types of QR codes can I create?

We support 9 types: URL (website links), vCard (contact information), WiFi (network access), Email (pre-filled email), SMS (text messages), WhatsApp (messages), Phone (direct dial), Location (GPS coordinates), and Plain Text.

How do I add my logo to a QR code?

You need a free account to add a logo. Once signed in, you'll see the customization panel where you can upload your logo (PNG, JPG, or SVG). The logo will be embedded in the center of your QR code. Make sure to test scanning after adding a logo, as it can slightly reduce readability.

What file formats can I download?

PNG is available to everyone. SVG and PDF formats require a free account. For print materials, we recommend SVG (vector format) as it scales to any size without loss of quality.

Can I change the colors of my QR code?

Yes! With a free account, you can customize both the foreground (QR code) color and the background color. Keep in mind that sufficient contrast between foreground and background is important for scanability.

Are the QR codes truly free?

Yes. QR Code Generator USA is 100% free for generating static QR codes. We monetize through advertising (Google AdSense). We have no plans to add paid tiers for basic QR code functionality.

Is there a limit on how many QR codes I can create?

There is no limit for guests generating basic URL QR codes. Account holders can save up to 500 QR codes in their history.

What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?

Static QR codes encode data directly in the pattern — they never expire but cannot be edited after creation. Dynamic QR codes store a short URL that redirects to your content, allowing you to change the destination later. We currently offer static QR codes, which are permanent and free.

How do I scan a QR code?

Most modern smartphones can scan QR codes using the built-in camera app. Just open your camera, point it at the QR code, and tap the notification that appears. You can also download a free QR code scanner app if your phone doesn't support it natively.

Can I use these QR codes commercially?

Yes! The QR codes you generate are yours to use however you like — for business cards, product packaging, marketing materials, menus, or any other commercial purpose.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account at any time by going to Dashboard → Account Settings → Delete My Account. Your data will be permanently removed after 60 days.
